Friday, February fourteenth, the   UN says at least 22 people have been killed in a village in the Northwest region of Cameroon. Over half of those killed were children. No one has claimed responsibility for Friday’s incident but the opposition parties blame the killing on the government.

An avian flu epizootic discovers in poultry complex in Yaounde, Cameroon

Following an avian flu epizootic, the Mvog-Betsi poultry Complex, one of the main players in the poultry industry in Cameroon, just lost approximately 24,000 birds, equivalent to 75% of its livestock, the Cameroonian Minister of Livestock, Dr Taïga announced. The remainder of the flock was killed and all carcasses were buried, this member of the government highlighted.

Cameroonian, lecturer killed by robbers in Gombe state, Nigeria

The Gombe State Police Command on Monday confirmed the killing of a lecturer, Malam Sulaiman Umar and a Cameroonian, Malam Zainab Mahmuda at Kashere junction on the Gombe-Kumo Road in Nigeria. This is contained in a statement issued by the command spokesman, DSP Ahmed Usman.

Hong kong bans import of poultry meat from Cameroon

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department announced on May 30 that in view of a notification from the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) about an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in Mfoundi Department, Cameroon, it has banned the import of poultry meat and products (including poultry eggs) from the country with immediate effect to protect public health in Hong Kong.
