Friday, February fourteenth, the UN says at least 22 people have been killed in a village in the Northwest region of Cameroon. Over half of those killed were children. No one has claimed responsibility for Friday’s incident but the opposition parties blame the killing on the government.

Cameroonian President Paul Biya on Monday pardoned a French lawyer serving a 25-year sentence for stealing 1.5 million euros (R24,6m) from public funds. Biya said in a statement read on state radio that Lydienne Yen-Ayoum, a Cameroonian who acquired French nationality after marrying a Frenchman, would no longer have to serve the remainder of her sentence.

Fourteen Cameroonian footballers suspected of having reduced their age to participate in the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) were suspended by the country’s federation (Fecafoot). “Fourteen players have just been exposed by an Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test after they were pre-selected to participate in the junior AFCON to be held in Madagascar in 2017,” the Cameroonian state radio CRTV announced on Tuesday.

The “Yang I” was caught fishing in restricted areas near Limbe on June 27, 2016. A fishing vessel named Yang I, fishing in restricted Cameroon territorial water areas, was apprehended by a joint patrol team by the Maritime Naval Base in Limbe (Cameroon Navy) and the personnel of the Ministry of Livestock Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA) on 24 June, 2016.
