Legendary Cameroonian saxophonist and vibraphone player Manu Dibango (real manes Emmanuel N'Djoké Dibango) performed in Nairobi on Sunday May 8, 2016.
The Soul Makossa hit maker was on the stage at the
12th edition of the bi-monthly music extravaganza Koroga Festival.
The show was held at the Arboretum Gardens.
The 82-year-old, who rose to worldwide fame thanks to the
1972 monstrous hit Soul Makossa, headlined the concert alongside his incredible
band Soul Makossa Gang.
Also on stage was Uganda's Maurice Kirya, Kenya's Edward
Parseen and The Different Faces Band and singer June Gachui.
DJs Adrian and Andre rocked it on the decks.
Over his illustrious music career, Manu has released 72
albums, latest being the Balade En Saxo in 2013.
In Nairobi, he showcased his incredible skills on the sax
as he belted his hit songs, one after another.
The show was simply amazing to say the least.
Soul Makossa influenced several popular music hits,
including Michael Jackson's Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' , as well as his
re-recording of that song with Akon, the Fugees' Cowboys and Rihanna's Don't
Stop the Music .
Congolese rhumba maestro Papa Wemba (R.I.P), Zimbabwe's
Oliver Mtukudzi, South Africa's Yvonne Chakachaka, Senegal's Baaba Maal and
Koffi Olominde are some of the artistes to have previously performed at the
music event.
Others include Uganda's Jose Chameleone, Ali Kiba
(Tanzania), Mi Casa, Simphiwe Dana and Mafikizolo (South Africa) and Kenya's
Sauti Sol and Nameless.

Cameroonian scammer arrested in Montreal (canada
The Sûreté du Québec announced Wednesday the arrest of an alleged fraudster specialist of a scenario called "Black money scam", in which victims are invited to participate in the cleaning of soiled banknotes, then are robbed during the operation. Cyrille Ngogang, 49 years old, was caught red-handed in downtown Montreal Tuesday afternoon. He appeared in court this morning to be charged with fraud and breach of commitment. The man is not in his first trouble with the law: he was previously arrested by the SQ on 19 January for charges related to the same scheme, and had been able to resume its freedom under strict conditions pending his trial. There are several variants of the 'Black money' scenario, but all involve a so-called batch of cash that has been stained with a dye or colouring substance. Scammers ask their victim to provide money to clean the hoard.
