Friday, February fourteenth, the   UN says at least 22 people have been killed in a village in the Northwest region of Cameroon. Over half of those killed were children. No one has claimed responsibility for Friday’s incident but the opposition parties blame the killing on the government.

West Africa has been on high alert following recent terror attacks on hotels in Mali, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast.  And now in Ghana, a leaked security document says Ghana and Togo are the next targets of the al-Qaida affiliate that claimed responsibility for the previous attacks.  Ghanaian President John Mahama has told the nation not to panic.

Baby miraculously recused from rubble six hours after quake in Japan

A baby girl who was sleeping when a deadly quake rocked Japan was rescued unscathed early Friday after a six-hour rescue operation. The eight-month old was pulled out of the rubble of a collapsed house in the southeastern town of Mashiki.

The Cameroonian subsidiary of the International Gabonese and French Bank (BGFI) has granted a CFA 14.3 billion loan to Cameroon’s Gas Society (GOC), owned by the British firm Victoria Oil & Gas (VOG), sources have disclosed.
