Friday, February fourteenth, the   UN says at least 22 people have been killed in a village in the Northwest region of Cameroon. Over half of those killed were children. No one has claimed responsibility for Friday’s incident but the opposition parties blame the killing on the government.

Arthur Zang to create 150 job positions in Cameroon

Since the launch of the sale of the Cardiopad in February, Himore Medical, the startup through which Cameroonian IT specialist Arthur Zang developed the first African medical tablet, has sold 43 kits out of the 300 already manufactured, he revealed to Quotidien de l’Economie. 50% of kits were sold in Gabon, and other orders were delivered to India and Nepal.

Moroccan company Wafa Assurances Vie gets certification to operate in Cameroon

The Cameroonian subsidiary of the Moroccan insurance company Wafa Assurances Vie can now launch its activities. The experts Committee of the Inter-African Conference of Insurance Markets (CIMA), the regulatory authority in the insurance sector in Central and Western Africa, endorsed during an ordinary session held in Yaoundé from 28 March to 6 April 2016, the favourable opinions already delivered by the Cameroonian Ministry of Finance and the Regional Insurance Control Commission of CIMA.

Eto'o scores a scandalous goal with hand

S amuel Eto'o scored a scandalous goal with his hand on Saturday as his side MP Antalyaspor beat Galatasaray 4-2. The Cameroonian striker opened the scoring in controversial circumstances in the 15th minute, as a cross from Jean Makoun found him at the back post.

22 foreign vessels exploit Cameroon's offshore illegally, in 2014 and 2015

Illegal fishing is all the rage in the Cameroonian waters. According to the Technical Committee of the Regional Commission of Fisheries of the Gulf of Guinea (COREP), which met in Yaoundé on 14 April 2016, not less than 12 fishing vessels belonging to foreign nationals have been boarded and searched in 2015 in the Cameroonian offshore for illegal fishing. A year before, 10 vessels were caught, thanks to the patrols of the Cameroonian army.

US state to start allowing guns to be carried to church without permit

Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant signed House Bill 786, a legislation that allows citizens to carry holstered firearms without a permit Friday, according to the  Associated Press .  Also known as the The Church Protection Act, the bill allows specific individuals to provide armed security to protect places of worship, if they attend firearms training sessions.

Kobe's retirement a dark day for his Chinese fans

While Kobe Bryant will be sorely missed by Los Angeles Lakers fans after he ended his stellar 20-year career in the NBA, his departure will leave a gaping hole for his legions of supporters in China. According to the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), 300 million people play the sport in China and for a majority of them, five-time NBA champion Bryant has become something of a cult figure.
